Interviews
Rich N' Famous Interview December 2006 Admin) : Tell us a little about your childhood. RICH) : Nothing out of the ordinary, holidays in the Caribbean during the summer, skiing in winter in either Aspen or the Alps. A small army of servants, people say I was born with a silver spoon in my mouth, but I think that's just jealousy. Admin) : When did you first view wrestling? RICH) : I think I was around six years old, if I remember rightly the first match I ever watched featured Hercules pounding some no name. Admin) : Did you know then you wanted to be a wrestler? RICH) : Not really. I think I was around sixteen years old when I decided I wanted to give wrestling a shot. Admin) : How did you get your first break into Wrestling? RICH) : I spent years ringing round leads, visiting websites, and emailing people anything to find out information. At the time all I could find were EWW's school in Oxfordshire, one in Blackpool and Dropkixx and Hammerlock in Essex/Kent. Admin) : Who trained you to wrestle? RICH) : I did a couple of sessions at EWW but soon left as it was a twelve hour round trip via train, and the travel was killing me. In early 2002 I started at Dropkixx mainly being trained by Ashe and Curve, The New Breed; and Kruiz, my current team mate in The Players Club. I also learnt from Frank Rimer and Tony Scarlo when I first started and eventually moved on and was fortunate enough to learn from Johnny Kidd. Admin) : Johnny really is a true legend. What were your first matches like? RICH) : Awful. I had no clue what I was doing and sadly was pushed out there too fast. Sadly I have seen a lot more people who are rushed out before they even have any clue how the wrestling business works; or at the other extreme are people who have a handful of classes and think they are ready to be wrestlers based on that alone. Admin) : How would you describe yourself as a wrestler for those who may not know you? RICH) : Mouthy! Very much a sports entertainer rather than a pure wrestler. That's not to say I cannot do it, however my style is more of a charismatic showman than an old school wrestler. Admin) : What is your favourite match that you've been involved in so far, and who have been your favourite opponents? RICH) : I don't have one particular match I've been proud of, as I strive to improve with every match. My favourite opponents have been Kid Regis who was a thorn in my side from day one, but when he retired we made our peace based upon mutual respect. Kruiz is as tough as they come, as is Corey Davis. Admin) : Who are your better friends in Wrestling? RICH) : Look no further than the Players Club, baby. "Diamond" Damon Kruiz, "Big Time" Brian Braddock, the best backup I could ever need. Admin) : What would you consider your lowest and highest points in wrestling so far? RICH) : Lowest would be my debut. It was bad. And embarrassing. Highest points would include wrestling Tommy Dreamer for AWA:UK in a rumble, and sharing a locker room with Steve Corino and The Sandman. Also winning the ACW tag titles alongside my mentor Kruiz was a massive high point. Admin) : What do you like to do in your spare time? RICH) : I'm currently studying English and Education Studies at university, so I don't have that much time. When I am free you can find me in the VIP rooms of the best clubs around usually surrounded by a bevy of beautiful women and the rest of the Players Club. Admin) : What five words would you feel describe you best? RICH) : Successful, beautiful, frankly the best. Admin) : What are your main plans for the future? RICH) : To graduate from University, and to carry on wrestling as long as possible. Admin) : What are your thoughts on WWE and TNA, and the UK and USA indy promotions? WWE: The best in wrestling, if anyone knocks them quite frankly they are a retard as it's the only promotion that makes money in the US and is globally known. TNA: Has great potential, and I would love to see them as a serious challenger to WWE. US Indies: I only really know ROH and a few others, some great talent there though. UK Scene: A mess, needs to be sorted, far too many egos, different beliefs, too many people stuck in the old days, others refusing to look at the old days. A lot of good talent goes unnoticed for many many reasons. Admin) : Who do you like to watch and learn from? RICH) : Chris Jericho. Arn Anderson, The Rockers, Ted DiBiase, Kenta, Satoshi Kojima, Shawn Michaels, CM Punk. Admin) : Where do you see the direction of wrestling going over the next couple of years? RICH) : In the USA, if TNA is a success I can see another boom period. Over here, the scene will always flounder as we are light years behind what fans see on TV from WWE and TNA, which immediately makes the British product look inferior. Admin) : Imagine - you're a promoter, what kind of event would you be looking to put on? RICH) : One that would bring in fans. Admin) : How do you feel Wrestling has changed since you first became a part of it, and do you feel your attitude has changed also? RICH) : A lot of monkey promotions have showed up, and a lot more monkey wrestlers who have put no effort into their look have appeared; often with very little or no training which is terrible. Even five years ago wrestling was so much more closed, and now there are school everywhere and anyone can train to be a wrestler, with schools wanting to make money rather than competent wrestlers. I think my attitude has changed as I'm now a lot more clued up about wrestling, but I am still learning. Admin) : Where do you think you would be, if not for wrestling? RICH) : I'd still be handsome, and successful; so it doesn't matter! Admin) : And to finish, is there anything you'd like to promote, or anyone you'd like to thank? RICH) : I'd like to thank myself, as its been your pleasure. And the Players Club for being the best team I could need. ACW Admin ACW Admin
